IT'S A GAS!

A Musical Comedy with Guts...and Kisses
© 2000 Susan Horowitz

"IT'S A GAS! is a funny, tuneful show!
The show is, indeed, a gas! So, for that matter, is
its star and creator. Miss Horowitz's comdey and songs
are clever, entertaining, and have the crucial 'ring of truth'
that marks fine comedy."
Herbert Goldman, President American Theatre Network

Susan, aka Dr. Sue, is a single woman who juggles careers (internet advice columnist, teacher of inner city youth, and performer). A near-dating/near death experience (plus take-out food) land her in the emergency room and a MRCP tunnel for diagnostic tests. Scared and immobilized, Susan escapes into fantasies of show business and romance....both of which offer fewer roles for "women of a certain age." ("I've reached that time of life where the arrival of my birthday has all the charm of Norman Bates coming through the shower curtain in Psycho! ") Targeted for surgery, Susan seeks a second opinion from her inner therapist Dr. Sue, (who sounds like Dr. Ruth). Emboldened by her inner guide, Susan figures out what's wrong with her diet and right with her mind and heart, heals herself, and rejoices in whatever life has to offer. ("I'm glad to be here ... considering the alternative, I'm glad to be anywhere. Besides, we're here, so we might as well be glad.")
